Maericiak   {may-REE-see-ak}

numinous and mythological figure of khoyyohk

An essential figure in the cosmology for many on khoyyohk for many years.

Some of this name's records seem to go back some several millenia, farther even than the remnants of records we have from those ancient peoples claimed by this planet's great cataclysm. Maericiak is a being (or very possibly beings) known to transform with the times, often drastically, to reflect the needs and dreams of the humes of khoyyohk.

This is a character of ritual, legend, cautionary tale, inspirational story, focus of art, way of life - Maericiahk's forms are myriad, and it is mysterious to most of the rest of us just how those humes really see or feel the presence of this Being. Or, for that matter, what they deeply know - or believe - Maericiahk to be. Or, indeed, their answers to these same questions in regards to to any of the Beings and characters in their long-lived and proudly mercurial cosmogeny.

The famous aphorism 'even glass can flow' is attributed to Maericiak, one of many wisdoms emergent from the local natural world that have long guided the khoyyohk. As Maericiak's reality and/or historicity is otherwise an open question in terms of technically and officially and all that, the phrase is generally attributed to the classic identity of 'ancient anonymous'.

Because this character has been alive in mythology for so long, and through many transformations besides, it's worth knowing some of the other names he has been given; they include Kriam-Sar, Kiirr, kiirriik, Trism, rasmirikira, Old Maer, Young Maerik, kiln, Mister Anneal, and The Shimmer Traveler.
