Multilinear: The Many Dimensions of Dreams
Book
A publication from the later-middle portion of Iva Zera's writing life, seen by many as a dry-run lead-up to the masterwork The Parabolas of Sleep.
Zera at least and at best half-confirms this when they said at a tea ceremony on Avay that everything done and dreamed throughout the whole of their life was in preparation and practice to create Parabolas, but these were admittedly not comments special to Multilinear per se.
Any way and either way that's as may be, and this text is nonetheless (mostly) a masterwork in its own right. While earlier book Roundabout the Dream Spheres only chronicled Zera's own experiences, Multilinear's text both collects the experiences of a cornucopia of dreamers and chronicles the evolution of Zera's own dreaming as Zera began to live within multiple dimensions of the same dream at once; to feel the resonance of those other dimensions, of the dream's history, of its potential future, of its shifting present, with all the dimensions of space and time and sense, all at once, smooth as sap and without overwhelm. To live within the dreams as if they were not a carnival of emergences from the sub or un conscious, but rather a universe as diverse and complex with history and engagable potentiality as ours.
Regardless of the mischief of Zera's various half-confirmations, it is clear to all that without the absolutely key steps made in Multilinear, Parabolas neither would nor could exist. Reading one is hardly necessary for reading and getting something out of the other, though it certainly helps to read and explore one before the other.
It should be added that Zera's hints of a companion text to this one, titled Nultilinear: The Dimensionless Dream, are believed to be yet another of the author's many mischiefs.
