Cae Ahil Xahil {KAY AH-hill KSAH-hill}
hume of the planet Oraea
Direct descendent of the legendary poet of love Amoran yCahil. Everyone believes Cae only barely knew Amoran, but in fact they were quietly close friends and Amoran taught Cae a great deal before he passed from body into ground and on to legend.
Celephaia Shamdasaani {sel-eh-FIE-ah shahm-dah-SAH-nee}
historical hume of the planet Noma
A Noma of silver hair who was named by her companion Currents - the Currents are a guild of ocean explorers on Noma - to become the First Current of the Luminescent Canyon. She was also the first to be named so at all, a position created when she could no longer be contained by the then-current limitations of Noma culture and its quests beyond the known ledges and edges of their nearer deeps.
The name, and the mysterious school she created in its wake, provided a structure to the Noma homeculture which allowed her companion Currents to continue diving ever farther and ever deeper. Celephaia stopped diving after her partner Kurena became incapable, as a partner is essential and she would dive with no one else.
When Celephaia explored the Luminescent Canyon the first time, a poem coalesced in her somewhere just below the Canyon’s Third Cataract.
“I am amidst a continual becoming.
A conjunction of my spheres,
of my life’s waves and currents.
A resonance of cosmic distance,
escaping the chaos of dissonance through
an awareness of the numerous aquanuminous.”
Chronoan Clowns
kind of being in the cosmos
A Chronoan Clown is identifiable primarily by their actions, rather than any particular costume or design. Some may wear masks or other clownish markings, but if any do it is only due to some of them forming subcultures of their own.
Chronoan Clowns seek the tickles and laughter of the cosmos’ many threads.
They see these tickles and their laughter in the interweavings of Time, and seem able to observe the strange ways different moments can and do influence others. They find humor in being able to see how past, present, and possible futures can connect and effect; in the spaces between; in the realities of change and the changes of reality.
Chronoans often speak of some kind - or even Universal power - of Laughter that is always out there, somewhere beyond the bounds of whatever humes create. It abounds and surrounds. Not all Clowns wish or choose to laugh along - indeed, many shift through tides of tears when they notice or hear or feel the Laughter. It is an important moment for any Chronoan Clown when the universe's laughter becomes their own, almost always as a result of finally seeing some kind of uniquely surprising connection between causes, corollaries, and effects
Humor is a cosmic law. This argument centers on a research project carried on over untold generations of whether ‘funny’ things happen without an observer.
Of course this not all about ‘humor’ alone and for its own sake. That is merely a main path, and one of many at that. Once a given Being 1) becomes aware of a humorous view, and 2) accepts that it can actually be seen/felt/experienced as true, then in a way there no going back - and they must choose or discover how to react. How to be transformed, if they can.
For some, there is sadness. For others, melancholy, joy, hysteria, jubilation, love, obsessions, creation, wonder, imagination, fury, and more. For all, there are changes and shifts through all of these (and more) throughout their lives. And, in the end, many Chronoan Clowns believe that everyone has the potential to become their own kind of Chronoan Clown. Indeed that everyone already, to some degree, is.
To actively live as a Chronoan Clown one must be interested, to at least some degree, in remaking/unmaking their previous cultural structures and mouldings. Elsewise they can never become wise. Yet they always act from mischief and love, with the express intention of cultivating consciousness through surprise and liberation. To shake the Dreaming back into a Waking (before dreams, or layerings of dreams, become a dreamer's only realities).
To try to know the true number of Chronoan Clowns at play in the multiverse at any given present is to open a veritable can of clowns. Aside from the accounting challenge presented by the many secret - and sometimes unknowing - practitioners, the simple fact of the Chronoan matter is that most die from some cell-shaking laughter before they ever reach beyond the dimension(s) of time into which they were born. Masters are rumored to live in a mercurial interflow of multiple dimensions of Time and/or View at once,.
To put it plainly: for them, we all live amidst the Comic's Cosmic.
