Noorla Sen and Me and the Day We Rooted Like Trees
Noorla Sen always spoke her wild ideas aloud.
As long as I'd known her, which was as long as I'd known myself or the trees or anything, that was how she was.
She'd suddenly speak, and it would always surprise.
"One day we'll swim with the snails!"
"One day we'll laugh in a treeless forest!"
"One day we'll dream under different stars!"
"One day we'll sip the Rains of Many Colors!"
So it made no particular impression upon me when, as we sat next to each other atop one of the Diamond Trees of Randrahir - and it was no doubt no accident that this happened as we were sat upon the sturdiest trees of symmetrical strength and structure known to the tree experts of the Pleiades -
It made no particular impression upon me at all, as the sun set and the birdsong of our friends filled the evening air and the sea glowed a golden turqouise and the sky flushed with a rosy blush, when she casually said aloud:
"One day we'll be together."
And nothing else needed to be said as her arm appeared around mine, and the sky velveted into a gentle navy hue made glorious by the greenblue moon and the sparkling stars that emerged to shine and remind us they're always there, just waiting for the night to be seen and known and loved.
"One day we'll be together" she murmured, nodding as the last sunlight slipped away.
And nothing else needed to be said, because we already were.
~ spoken by Runas Rulanna Ca about a night they shared with a close friend in the forest of Randrahir on Oraea
